Phagwara, October 9: Four villagers were injured after six armed men opened fire on them in Bhabhiana village, Phagwara, on Wednesday night. The attackers, who arrived on two motorcycles, sprayed bullets at the villagers as they sat near a local religious site before fleeing the scene. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
The injured, identified as Bittu (42), Jashanpreet (19), Butta Ram (55), and Shinda (45), were rushed to the local civil hospital. Dr. Lehimber Ram, who attended to them, confirmed their injuries. All are currently receiving treatment.
Local authorities, including SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti and SHO Sadar Amandeep Nahar, arrived at the scene to begin their investigation. However, villagers expressed frustration, alleging that police reached the location late after the attack occurred.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify the culprits.
